In February 2022, ZoomInfo released its 2021 Sustainability Report — a deep dive into our social, governance, and environmental responsibilities over the past year.
While 2021 had its fair share of challenges, we wanted to make sure that we continued to foster a positive environment for our employees, empower our customers to succeed through our products, and commit to responsible and sustainable operations.
Here’s a quick look at some of the promising results. You can find the full report here.
An Inclusive Workforce
We measure the diversity of our workforce across a number of dimensions, including gender, age, and racial background. Beginning in 2019, we implemented structured programs and strategies to recruit more diverse candidates. This has resulted in a 5% increase in minority representation companywide.
Typically, diverse representation wanes as you move up the corporate ladder. However, ZoomInfo has over 70% more Black sales managers than other SaaS companies.
Career Growth
We believe in recognizing success and promoting internally. We want to make sure that we’re helping our employees grow and develop. That’s why employees at ZoomInfo have 2.5 times greater career mobility than the average SaaS organization.
In 2021, we invested over 80,000 hours in training our employees. To ensure our employees have ample access to career growth, we offer a comprehensive self-service knowledge base, including courses on our products, communication and leadership. Additionally, we ensure all employees have access to leadership development, continuing education, and third-party coaches and experts.
Best Place to Work
We’re committed to being the best place to work. Last year we received over 20 awards — from outlets like Fortune, The Boston Globe, and Comparably — celebrating our workplace, culture, diversity, and teams. Some of the most noteworthy awards include “Best Company for Women,” “Best Company for Diversity,” “Best Company Happiness,” and “Best Company Compensation.”
Our corporate values create a culture of striving for excellence and working together to produce outcomes we’re proud of. We value the individuality of our employees and have created Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to recognize and celebrate their many backgrounds. We have ERGs that support women, members of the LGBTQ+ community, people of color, and more. In 2021, we launched a Caregivers ERG to support employees juggling parenting while working full-time, an Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Allyship ERG, and a Wellness ERG to provide mental health and wellness support for everyone.
ZoomInfo ERGs are given an annual stipend to host educational, charitable, and philanthropic events to promote an inclusive workplace and community. This helps us expand our ERG programming and provide more resources to our employees.
Employee Compensation
We strive to provide competitive compensation. We established pay parity standards to ensure that all employees from all backgrounds are paid fairly. We benchmarked the salaries of every employee based on their level and responsibilities against globally recognized survey data. We aim to ensure that men, women, and non-binary employees are paid similarly on average for the same job and are within 5% of the benchmark.
Through our Annual Equity Planning, we offer additional restricted stock units to employees, with award amounts determined based on individual performance. Along with annual bonuses and equity grants based on employee and company performance, generous commission plans, retirement plan matches, and unlimited paid time off, we want to make sure that our employees are well taken care of inside and outside of the office.
Social Focus
“At ZoomInfo, we believe that we can do well and do good,” said Henry Schuck, ZoomInfo CEO and founder.
We’ve sponsored an annual fundraising drive for over 10 years. Last year, we were able to donate over $2,000,000 to 11 organizations — a new record. We also donated more than $600,000 in platform licenses to nonprofit organizations and universities to support the greater communities where we work.
Data Acquisition and Management
“Our first goal is 100% transparency with how we process personal information,” said Anthony Stark, general counsel for ZoomInfo.
We want our customers to trust how we handle their information. Our privacy policy and practices have been certified under TrustArc’s Enterprise Privacy and Data Governance Practices. We are also certified under EU-U.S. and Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield Frameworks, and are a registered Data Broker in California.
With great data comes great responsibility. ZoomInfo is proud to have implemented a robust Information Security Management System (ISMS) that meets the guidelines of the ISO 27001 Standard. We’ve also earned AICPA’s SOC2 attestation regarding the security, availability, and confidentiality controls around our services. Our ISMS includes the Risk Management program formally based on the ISO 31000 Risk Management Framework.
Environmental Efforts
We’re committed to increasing our environmental sustainability efforts. In 2021, we began prioritizing cloud vendors by carbon neutrality and have gone paperless. We have implemented practices to repurpose our used electronics to people that otherwise wouldn’t have them. This helps people who don’t traditionally have access to modern information and communication technology, and keeps our machines out of landfills.
Additionally, over 70% of our square footage across our 12 offices in the U.S. and Israel are “Gold” Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified.
Looking Ahead
We’re planning continued investments across our enterprise to make sure we’re consistent and persistent in providing a great employee and customer experience, while also remaining socially responsible.
We’ve created short- and long-term goals, including increasing diversity on our board of directors, launching an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, and implementing a standardized reporting framework to measure and report carbon emissions.
Schuck also signed the CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion pledge and the Hispanic Promise, two pledges committed to cultivating a trusting and empowering environment for employees, along with promises to continue to recruit and hire more diverse talent.
“Our journey is a marathon, not a sprint. We realize we have more to do in all parts of the organization to live up to the potential and market opportunity before us, and this report is the first step in our sustainability journey,” Schuck said.
