What Is Cognism?
Cognism is a London-based B2B sales intelligence platform that sells contact and company data with a focus on Europe. It was founded in 2015 by James Isilay and Stjepan Buljat, according to Cognism's About page, and says more than 4,000 companies use its data.
Its best-known asset is phone-verified mobile data. According to Cognism's data page, every record is screened against 16 do-not-call lists globally, and director-level contacts are refreshed every 30 days. Its product line covers sales prospecting, CRM enrichment, integrations, and MCP and API access.
What's Changed at Cognism in 2025 and 2026
Cognism looks different today than it did a year ago. If you're reading older reviews, these are the changes that matter.
New leadership. Cognism appointed Dominic Allon as CEO and Chris Evans as CRO on 9 September 2025. Allon succeeded interim CEO Pete Daffern, and the announcement says Cognism will expand its AI-enabled revenue intelligence suite.
New packages and a credit model. Cognism's pricing page now lists Standard and Pro packages, with one credit per revealed contact.
MCP and API access. Both packages now include MCP and API access, marked as new on Cognism's site. Teams can query Cognism data from Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants.
More DNC lists. Cognism's data page now cites 16 do-not-call lists, more than many older reviews report.
Cognism Ratings and Review Themes

Incorrect numbers and outdated contacts. These rank second and third, with reviewers reporting HQ numbers and contacts who have changed roles.
Missing information. Some contacts and company details aren't available.
Price and export limits. Capterra's reviewer summary names pricing, occasional export limits and varying mobile accuracy as the main trade-offs.
How We Evaluated Cognism
We judged Cognism on the jobs B2B teams buy sales intelligence tools to do. That means finding accurate contacts, building lead lists, prioritizing in-market accounts, enriching CRM data and feeding AI agents.
We weighed six criteria: data accuracy, regional coverage, compliance, workflow and integrations, AI access, and pricing. Sources include G2 and Capterra reviews and Cognism's own data, pricing and MCP and API pages.
Cognism Features Reviewed by Job to Be Done
Cognism is strongest at finding European contacts and more limited at account prioritization, where its intent data comes from a third party. Here's how each feature performs, what users say about it, and how ZoomInfo handles the same job.
Finding Accurate Contacts: Phone-Verified Mobiles
Cognism's phone-verified mobiles go through extra manual and automated checks, and Cognism says they deliver a 3x improvement in connect rates over the industry average. The Pro package adds on-demand verification for contacts that aren't verified yet. Every record is screened against 16 do-not-call lists, and records that fail screening are withheld and not charged.
Users rate this feature highly but also report the most problems here.
"Their 'Diamond Data' is a total lifesaver, it's actually human-verified," writes Syed F., an SDR at a mid-market company, who adds that Diamond credits run out fast at high volume.
"It seems that most of the times the numbers are just HQ numbers," says Andrea L., a senior account manager.
"I get a lot of email bounces and need more accurate email addresses," reports Harry P., an enterprise account executive.
ZoomInfo's data foundation covers 500M contacts, 135M+ verified phone numbers, 120M+ direct-dial phone numbers and 200M+ verified business emails. Multi-source verification with 300+ human researchers keeps records current, and coverage outside North America includes 45M+ mobile numbers and 200M+ professional profiles.
See how Outreach got more prospects on the phone with direct dial data.
"What's most compelling is the emotional boost that a rep gets when they pick up the phone and they know they have a chance."
Building Lead Lists: Search, AI Search and the Chrome Extension
Cognism builds lists with firmographic, technographic and signal filters, plus AI search and an AI persona builder. According to Cognism, its Chrome extension works on LinkedIn, Sales Navigator, Salesforce, HubSpot and company websites, so reps can capture contacts without leaving their workflow.
The extension is one of the most praised parts of the product, while export limits are the main complaint.
"I can quickly open the tab, capture a prospect's data from LinkedIn, and push the lead straight into the CRM," says Rhys H., a senior SDR at an enterprise company.
"I find Cognism incredibly useful for European prospecting data and mobile data," writes TJ G., a sales advisor at a small business, who adds that North American coverage is thinner.
Several G2 reviewers say export limits slow them down when building large target account lists.
ZoomInfo approaches list building from the signal side. GTM Studio lets marketers and RevOps teams describe an audience in plain language and launch plays without engineering help, while GTM Workspace surfaces best-fit accounts for sellers. Compare both approaches in our guide to the best lead generation software for B2B teams.
Prioritizing Accounts: Signals and Intent Data
Cognism's signal data tracks hiring, funding, M&A and technographics for more than 20,000 technologies. Its intent data is licensed from Bombora's Company Surge, with more than 11,000 selectable topics, and is included in the Pro package.
Reviewers who use intent rate it well for timing outreach.
James A., a director of marketing at an enterprise company, says the intent data helps the team identify in-market prospects researching their services.
ZoomInfo uses proprietary buyer intent signals, 210M IP-to-organization pairings for website visitor identification and technographics for 30,000+ technologies. Its GTM Context Graph processes 1.5B+ data points daily, so teams can see why an account is moving as well as who is in-market.
Keeping CRM Data Clean: Enrichment and Integrations
Cognism sells CRM Enrichment as an add-on that automatically enriches and maintains CRM records. Teams can also enrich lists through CSV uploads, and the same credits cover prospecting, enrichment and the API. Cognism lists native integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics, Pipedrive, Outreach, Salesloft, Bullhorn and Zapier.
Users like how quickly enrichment works but keep an eye on credits.
Yeray C., a director of technology on Capterra, says the team can validate and clean lead lists in minutes, but credits run out quickly during extensive list enrichment.
Maisie T., an SDR on Capterra, notes that not all of Cognism's data pulls through to Salesforce, so details sometimes need cross-checking.
ZoomInfo's CRM data enrichment keeps Salesforce, HubSpot and Microsoft Dynamics records current through bidirectional sync. It also enriches inbound forms and lead lists so new records arrive complete.
Powering AI Agents: MCP and API
Cognism's MCP connector lets teams query contact, company and intent data from Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants, with read-only access governed by existing account settings. Its API supports search, enrichment and retrieval in GTM systems, with credits charged per revealed contact rather than per field, according to Cognism's MCP and API page.
Early feedback on AI access is positive, with some users asking for more.
Thomas E., a business development lead manager on Capterra, says the API lets him build further efficiencies through agents he creates.
Juan Z., a senior consultant on G2, wishes Cognism offered more intelligent AI functionality, such as better AI persona matching.
ZoomInfo delivers AI access through GTM.AI, its headless API and MCP option, which connects verified data, intent and CRM context to Claude, ChatGPT and other MCP-compatible agents. Because the GTM Context Graph fuses CRM records, conversation intelligence and behavioral signals, agents act on deal context as well as contact data.
Cognism Pros and Cons
Cognism's strengths sit in European contact data and compliance. Its weaknesses show up in data consistency, coverage outside Europe and pricing transparency.
Pros
Phone-verified mobile numbers. Cognism says they deliver a 3x improvement in connect rates over the industry average.
Compliance screening. Records are checked against 16 do-not-call lists before they're shown.
Ease of use. It's the most cited pro on G2, and Capterra users rate it 4.8/5.
LinkedIn workflow. The Chrome extension moves contacts from LinkedIn and Sales Navigator into the CRM quickly.
AI access. Both packages include MCP and API access.
Cons
Inconsistent data. Inaccurate data, incorrect numbers and outdated contacts are the most common complaints on G2.
Coverage outside Europe. Reviewers report thinner coverage in North America and APAC.
Credit and export limits. Users mention credits running out quickly and limits on bulk exports.
No public pricing. Every purchase starts with a sales conversation.
Third-party intent. Intent data comes from Bombora and is part of the Pro package.
Narrower scope. Cognism has no native sales engagement, conversation intelligence or advertising tools.
Cognism Pricing
Cognism doesn't publish prices. Its pricing page lists two sales prospecting packages, both quote-based with five seats included.
Standard covers core prospecting, including contact and company data, firmographic, technographic and signal filters, AI account research, CSV enrichment, and MCP and API access.
Pro adds premium mobile data, on-demand mobile verification and intent data.
CRM Enrichment is an add-on to either package.
Cognism runs on credits, where one credit equals one revealed contact. Viewing a contact you've already revealed is free, and the same credits work across prospecting, enrichment and the API. Each seat includes a credit allocation, and teams can buy more.
Capterra lists a starting price of $1,000 per feature per month, and G2 reviewers report an average discount of 15%. Price is a recurring complaint, especially from small teams, like Juan Z., who calls it "quite expensive."
ZoomInfo pricing works differently. Free to start with consumption credits based on usage, ZoomInfo lets teams test the platform before scaling up.
Cognism vs. ZoomInfo
Cognism is built to help teams reach the right contacts in Europe. ZoomInfo, an all-in-one AI GTM Platform, shows who to contact anywhere and why they're likely to buy, then lets teams act on it in any tool.
That difference starts with the data foundation. ZoomInfo covers 500M contacts and 100M companies, including 34M+ company profiles and 200M+ professional profiles outside North America, so global teams work from one platform instead of stitching regional providers together.
On top of that data, the GTM Context Graph fuses CRM records, conversation intelligence and behavioral signals into one intelligence layer. It explains why deals move or stall, which is context a contact record alone can't give you.
Teams use that intelligence wherever they work. Sellers use GTM Workspace, marketers and RevOps teams use GTM Studio, and developers and AI agents use GTM.AI, the headless API and MCP option.
