Clearbit Review 2026: Is This B2B Data Enrichment Platform Right for You?

Clearbit earned its reputation as one of the cleanest B2B data enrichment APIs on the market. Founded in 2014 as a developer-first platform, it turned a single email address into a full company and contact profile, pulling from 250+ data sources to deliver firmographics, technographics, and role data in milliseconds. For years, growth teams and RevOps engineers treated it as essential plumbing.

Then HubSpot acquired Clearbit in December 2023 and rebranded it as Breeze Intelligence at INBOUND 2024. The product still enriches records, identifies anonymous website visitors, and shortens forms. But it now lives inside HubSpot's CRM, and only inside HubSpot's CRM.

To write this Clearbit review, we analyzed it closely. We believe it's the right choice if:

  • You already use HubSpot as your CRM and want enrichment built into your records

  • Your primary need is filling in missing company and contact data on inbound leads

  • You want form shortening to lift conversion rates without losing data completeness

  • You value automatic, continuous record refreshes without managing a separate vendor

  • Your team operates entirely within HubSpot's ecosystem

However, Clearbit might not be a good fit if:

  • You use Salesforce, Dynamics, Pipedrive, or any CRM other than HubSpot

  • You need a prospecting database to build outbound lists from scratch

  • You require verified direct-dial phone numbers for sales outreach

  • You want intent data that extends beyond your own website traffic

  • You need to power custom applications or AI agents with enrichment data via API

In that case, consider ZoomInfo: an AI GTM Platform built on a B2B data foundation of 500M contacts, 100M companies, 135M+ verified phone numbers, and 200M+ verified business email addresses. Its GTM Context Graph processes 1.5B+ data points daily and unifies this data with your CRM records, conversation transcripts, and behavioral signals to reveal the full context of your accounts. That context gives AI the fuel to show not just what happened, but why it happened, and which actions will capitalize on that momentum. Your team can run sales motions from the GTM Workspace, build GTM plays in GTM Studio, or power their own tools through the API and MCP in any other front-end.

We've included a detailed look at ZoomInfo at the end of this review. If you want to explore the platform first, you can start with ZoomInfo Lite for free here.

What is Clearbit?

Clearbit was founded in 2014 in San Francisco by Alex MacCaw, Matt Sornson, and Harlow Ward.

clearbit-review-image1

The founding team came from Stripe, Twitter, Google, and Heroku. They built Clearbit as a developer-first API that took a work email address or company domain and returned a structured profile with firmographic, demographic, and technographic attributes.

Before the acquisition, Clearbit served over 400,000 users and maintained data on 20M+ companies and 500M+ decision-makers. Developer and startup communities considered it the standard for API-quality B2B enrichment, especially among product-led growth companies that needed to enrich signups in real time.

HubSpot completed the acquisition on December 4, 2023. By September 2024, Clearbit had been rebranded as Breeze Intelligence, which HubSpot described as its "data enrichment and buyer intent solution" powered by over 200 million company and buyer profiles. The legacy clearbit.com site now directs new users toward HubSpot.

Today, Clearbit targets B2B companies already on HubSpot's paid tiers (Starter, Professional, or Enterprise) that need to enrich inbound leads, identify anonymous website visitors, and shorten forms, all without leaving the CRM.

Clearbit Review: How It Works & Key Features

Data Enrichment: Clearbit fills in missing CRM data from a single email address or domain.

Data enrichment is Clearbit's core function. Submit a work email or company domain, and the system returns a structured profile spanning 100+ B2B attributes from 250+ data sources. The platform uses LLMs to convert unstructured web data into standardized datasets, with a human QA team reviewing for consistency and accuracy.

Within HubSpot, enrichment works through several modes. Automatic enrichment fires when a new record is created. Continuous enrichment refreshes existing records monthly at no credit cost. Users can also trigger enrichment manually from a record view, in bulk from an index or import, or through workflow actions.

Person attributes include given name, location, employment details, normalized role (such as "leadership" or "engineering"), sub-role (such as "CEO" or "frontend"), and seniority (such as "executive" or "manager"), along with social profile handles for LinkedIn, Twitter, and GitHub.

Company attributes span identity (name, domain, founded year), size (employees, estimated revenue, funding raised), industry codes at multiple levels (6-digit NAICS, 8-digit GICS, and 4-digit SIC simultaneously), detected tech stack, corporate hierarchy (parent domain, ultimate parent domain), and location data.

One practical detail: overwrite behavior is configurable per property. Teams can choose "Fill empty values only," "Fill empty values and overwrite existing values," or "Do not fill any values," which prevents enrichment from replacing manually verified data.

Buyer Intent: Clearbit identifies which companies visit your website using IP intelligence.

Buyer Intent (previously Clearbit Reveal) matches anonymous website traffic to company identities using IP data. When a visitor lands on a site with the HubSpot tracking code installed, the system collects company domain, online identifiers, timestamps, and URL paths to identify the visiting organization.

Users configure intent by specifying which page paths represent buying signals (pricing pages, product pages, case studies), with support for up to 10 unique visitor intent criteria and configurable thresholds for minimum visits or unique visitors. The visitor dashboard displays companies sorted by page views, unique visitors, or last visit date with a 90-day lookback.

A complementary layer called Research Intent goes beyond first-party data, identifying companies researching relevant topics across the broader web before they visit your site.

Identified companies can be added to the CRM automatically or enrolled in HubSpot workflows for outreach. The basic dashboard (up to 20 companies) is available without credits; viewing more or adding companies to CRM requires credits.

Form Shortening: Clearbit removes form fields it can fill automatically, lifting conversion rates.

Form Shortening solves a specific problem: long forms reduce conversions, but marketing needs the data. Clearbit's research found the average B2B sales contact form has 8 fields, and customers see conversion rates rise 3-5% for every field removed.

The mechanism is simple. When form shortening is on, only the Email field appears initially. After the visitor enters their email, HubSpot checks the enrichment dataset. If enriched data exists, those fields are hidden. If the visitor isn't found, they complete all fields.

Source: HubSpot

This differs from progressive profiling, which requires prior form submissions to suppress fields. Form shortening works on a visitor's first interaction. Documented results include Gong increasing demo requests by 70% and Mention improving signups by 54%.

As of September 2025, form shortening no longer consumes HubSpot Credits and is available on all HubSpot plans.

Pricing: Clearbit is embedded in HubSpot's subscription model.

Clearbit is not sold as a standalone product. Its pricing lives within HubSpot's tiers.

Basic enrichment is free for paid HubSpot users. As of Fall 2025, basic company and contact enrichment is included in all Starter+ Core Seats and no longer consumes credits. This covers automatic enrichment of new records, continuous monthly refreshes, manual enrichment, bulk enrichment, and workflow-triggered enrichment.

Advanced features consume HubSpot Credits. Buyer Intent and Smart Properties consume credits. Included monthly credits by tier: Professional gets 3,000 credits/month, Enterprise gets 5,000 credits/month. Additional credits cost $10 per 1,000.

Credits do not roll over. Unused credits expire at the end of each monthly usage period. Teams with uneven monthly volumes pay the same regardless of usage.

No free standalone option. HubSpot's free CRM tier does not include Breeze Intelligence. All legacy Clearbit free tools (Connect Chrome extension, Weekly Visitor Report, TAM Calculator) were sunset on April 30, 2025.

Where Clearbit Falls Short

Clearbit does what it does well, but the HubSpot acquisition narrowed its focus in ways that create clear boundaries.

HubSpot lock-in is absolute. Breeze Intelligence is available only inside the HubSpot platform. Before the acquisition, Clearbit served any CRM or tech stack via REST APIs with integrations for Salesforce, Marketo, and Segment. That flexibility is gone.

Any business using Salesforce, Dynamics, Pipedrive, or a custom CRM is excluded. There is no Breeze Intelligence API, no webhook-based enrichment, and no integration path outside HubSpot.

No prospecting database. Clearbit enriches records you already have, but it does not help you find new contacts. Legacy Clearbit Prospector provided a searchable database of 200 million contacts for building outbound lists. Breeze Intelligence has no equivalent. Teams that need to build prospect lists from scratch must use a separate tool.

No verified phone numbers. Clearbit's enrichment returns professional email addresses, social handles, company attributes, and role data. It does not provide verified direct-dial or mobile numbers. For sales teams whose outreach depends on calling, this is a real gap.

No published accuracy benchmarks. HubSpot documents dynamic data scoring and human QA but does not publish specific match rates, accuracy percentages, or coverage by geography or industry. Evaluating data quality requires testing against known records rather than comparing published figures.

Credits expire monthly with no rollover. The no-rollover policy penalizes teams with seasonal or variable demand. A quiet month wastes credits; a busy month may trigger automatic upgrades to the next capacity tier unless the customer opts into pay-as-you-go overages.

Intent data stays inside HubSpot. Buyer Intent identifies companies visiting your site and Research Intent tracks topic research across the web, but neither data source can be exported to advertising platforms, data warehouses, or tools outside HubSpot. Intent signals are useful only within the HubSpot ecosystem.

These limitations follow naturally from folding an API-first data product into a single CRM platform. For HubSpot-committed teams, the trade-off is clear: you lose flexibility but gain native integration. For everyone else, the acquisition turned a CRM-agnostic tool into a single-vendor feature.

Top Clearbit Alternative for Full GTM Coverage: ZoomInfo

Where Clearbit enriches records inside one CRM, ZoomInfo is an AI GTM Platform built on a B2B data foundation of 500M contacts, 100M companies, 135M+ verified phone numbers, and 200M+ verified business email addresses.

That data feeds ZoomInfo's GTM Context Graph, which unifies your CRM records, conversation transcripts, email threads, and behavioral signals with the 1.5B+ data points ZoomInfo processes daily.

The result: your team sees not just what happened with a deal, but why it moved or stalled. The AI drafting your next follow-up understands the concern behind the conversation, your next GTM play targets accounts matching your actual win patterns, and your next forecast reflects buying evidence rather than rep optimism.

Your team can use this intelligence through the GTM Workspace for sellers, GTM Studio for marketers and RevOps, or APIs and MCP in any front-end.

Comprehensive B2B Data: ZoomInfo's data covers dimensions Clearbit does not.

ZoomInfo maintains 500M+ contacts, 100M+ companies, 135M+ verified phone numbers, 120M+ direct-dial phone numbers, and 200M+ verified business email addresses.

The data comes from automated ML scanning of 28 million site domains daily, third-party partner data covering 95 million businesses, a community of 200,000+ ZoomInfo Lite users who share data back, and an in-house Data Training Lab of 300+ human researchers. First-party data reaches up to 95% accuracy.

The difference is in scope. Clearbit enriches records with company attributes and role data. ZoomInfo adds verified direct-dial phone numbers, org charts, technographic profiles tracking 30,000+ technologies across 200+ categories on 30+ million companies, and buyer intent signals from 210 million IP-to-Organization pairings and 6 trillion+ new keyword-to-device pairings sourced monthly.

clearbit-review-image9

External validation supports this. In a Fortune 500 competitive RFP analyzing 25 million contacts across vendors, the independent consultant concluded that "no other competitor came even close." ZoomInfo holds 133 No. 1 rankings on G2 across Sales Intelligence, Buyer Intent, Data Quality, and Account Data Management.

GTM Context Graph: ZoomInfo captures why deals move, not just what happened.

Clearbit provides static enrichment attributes. ZoomInfo's GTM Context Graph fuses ZoomInfo's third-party data with a customer's own CRM records, conversation transcripts, email threads, and behavioral signals, processing 1.5B+ data points daily into a unified view that captures the connections between signals and outcomes.

A CRM records that a deal moved to Stage 3. Conversation intelligence captures what the VP of Finance said on the last call. Intent data logs a spike in research activity. The GTM Context Graph connects all three to explain why the deal moved and what's likely to happen next.

This intelligence drives measurable results. Seismic attributed 39% of active pipeline to ZoomInfo signals, reported 54% productivity gains, and saved 11.5 hours per week per seller.

Snowflake achieved 90% higher opportunity open rates and 2x higher customer conversion rates on accounts monitored using ZoomInfo-powered scores.

Universal Access: ZoomInfo works in any CRM, any tool, any AI agent.

Clearbit's HubSpot exclusivity is its defining constraint. ZoomInfo takes the opposite approach with three paths to the same data and intelligence:

GTM Workspace gives sellers a single screen where AI agents handle account research, generate follow-ups, monitor signals, and draft outreach, built on Anthropic's Claude.

GTM Studio gives marketers and RevOps teams a builder where they define audiences, orchestrate campaigns, and measure pipeline in natural language. Expansion plays that used to take 3 weeks now launch in 30 minutes.

APIs and MCP expose the same intelligence to any custom agent, internal tool, or partner platform. API access is included in all relevant plans. The MCP server connects AI models to ZoomInfo's data as a native tool, with no custom coding required.

ZoomInfo integrates natively with Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics, and 120+ partner integrations across CRM, marketing automation, sales engagement, and data warehouse categories. Your choice of tools never limits the quality of intelligence available.

Final Verdict

The choice between Clearbit and ZoomInfo depends on how much your go-to-market team needs to do.

Choose Clearbit if you're committed to HubSpot and your primary need is enriching inbound lead records with company and contact data. The native integration works well: enrichment happens automatically, records refresh monthly, and form shortening lifts conversion rates with documented results. For HubSpot-centered teams running inbound demand generation, Clearbit adds data completeness without adding a separate vendor. Basic enrichment comes included on paid HubSpot seats, making it a straightforward addition to an existing HubSpot investment.

Learn more about Clearbit (Breeze Intelligence) here.

Choose ZoomInfo if you need more than enrichment. If your team prospects outbound, needs verified phone numbers, runs multi-channel campaigns, uses a CRM other than HubSpot, or wants AI that captures deal context rather than appending data fields, ZoomInfo covers that range. The data foundation is larger and independently validated. The platform works across any CRM and any tool through APIs and MCP. And the GTM Context Graph connects signals, conversations, and outcomes in ways a static enrichment product cannot. For teams whose go-to-market motion extends beyond enriching inbound records, ZoomInfo provides the full infrastructure.

Clearbit made a deliberate bet: deep integration with one platform over broad compatibility with many. That bet works for HubSpot users who need clean data in their CRM. ZoomInfo made a different bet: that go-to-market teams need broad data, contextual intelligence, and access across every tool they use. Which bet aligns with yours determines the right choice.
